SkyWerx Industries was founded in 2003 by brothers Jered and Justin Davis.  With less than $15,000 in starting capital they have built Skywerx into one of the largest Wireless Internet Service Provider networks in Colorado and the only redundant network in southern Colorado that spans from Durango to Colorado Springs and back. SkyWerx serves over 7,000 customers and these include other Internet Service Providers, residential markets, and diverse industries such as education, banking, hospitals, a 911 dispatch center, and municipal governments.

2013 was a year focused on driving value in new products and services, and disrupting and transforming our rural marketplace. It was also a year for reinvesting in our infrastructure, our regional communities, and a new dealer partnership.

We are empowering change by enabling our customers to compete in the global marketplace, providing the vehicle for quality entertainment, while maintaining a trusted network. The Internet is rapidly changing our world and we believe the only way to manage this change is through innovation and continuous improvement in service.

Company Highlights
  • For the fifth consecutive year, revenue increased over 30%
  • 25% increase in new commercial account revenue
  • Surpassed 3000 customers
  • Over $400,000 reinvested in 2013
  • Fourth consecutive year without a disruption in our core network
  • Expanded operations by opening a new office in Durango

As a result of Skywerx’ progress, innovation and improvements, they have been selected as one of fifty Colorado Companies to Watch in 2014.  This is further proof that Skywerx is making a difference in Colorado communities and the economic growth of our state.

Notable Projects

Dealer Agreement: Skywerx entered in to a Dealer Agreement with AlignTec, a Durango-based ISP, to manage and grow our residential markets in Durango, Bayfield, and Ignacio.  This revenue sharing agreement reduces our operational expenditures but more importantly, provides a foundation to assist and mentor the growth of another local small company.   AlignTec projects seven additional full-time employees in four years.  Projected market capture over this period is 30%.  To date, our partnership is producing over 30 new customers each month.

The Southwest Colorado Access Network (S.C.A.N): A DOLA funded project for the development of a hybrid network consisting of both fiber optic and licensed wireless technology to interconnect municipal Anchor Institutions throughout SW Colorado.  Skywerx contributions to this project included interconnecting La Plata and Archuleta Counties using licensed Microwave with 1 GB of capacity, which is scalable for future growth.  Our most important contribution to the S.C.A.N. project was cost savings to Archuleta County, which is approximately $60k annually in existing telecommunication costs.
